February, 1972 to ___
Toad was the replacement puppy that I obtained from Pat Russell of Cedarlane Collies after my first Collie, Fuzz, had to be spayed. I was married at the time, and our first Labrador Retriever, Oly, was just a few months old.
Toad only lived with us for a short time and had one Great Adventure.
Toad was a very striking puppy. She had a lovely expression, well tipped ears, and nicely balanced movement. However, after living with Toad for almost a year, I decided that her temperament wasn't what I wanted to perpetuate. She was leery of men, was constantly in motion, had no common sense and a very bland personality. She was obedient to a fault. I used to say that she'd sit on hot coals if commanded to. After Fuzz, her personality was quite a disappointment. We sold her to a retired couple who loved her dearly and didn't care about her quirks (and didn't climb mountains!).
